Currently based in Nelson, New Zealand.
About Me.
I’ve always been a bit nosey.
As a UX Designer, my mission is to ask “why” and then listen and learn.
I love that moment (after being buried in user interviews and research data), when themes start to form - and problems begin to appear - so I can solve them.
No (wo)man is an island, and I take a collaborative approach to design. Bringing the right people together at the right time, means everyone is on the journey together (from clients, to designers, to users and other stakeholders). That’s when truly creative solutions can be designed for truly useful products.
For the past 3+ years, I’ve been the UX/UI Lead at academyEX - a private postgraduate institute offering future-focused Master’s programmes, micro-credentials, and certificates. Our work spans education, change leadership, and emerging tech. I lead the UX and design across our website and learning platforms for B2B, B2C, and government audiences, and have also designed major client projects like Checkable, Digital Boost, and Digital Passport—key initiatives supporting New Zealand’s digital future.
I have a strong background in account/project management wearing many hats* within design, music and advertising agencies - all with a penchant for consumer and shopper behaviour.
UX Design is the sweet spot of all my skills and interests.
*Project & account management, user researcher, ideation workshop facilitator, sales pitcher, creative strategist, wanna-be producer, designer, Keynote wizard…
Other Loves.
Aside from pencil and pixel-pushing, these also give me great joy:
-
Music.
I’ve played the piano as long as I can remember. Tragic, classical music by Eastern-Block composers is my jam.
I also sing in a folky-pop group called ‘Midnight Swim’. Nothing better than singing in harmony with your friends!
-
Swimming.
Growing up near the beach made me a water-baby from the start. I love swimming lengths of the pool, competitive ocean swimming, or just floating in the sea.
-
Dogs.
This is my cocker spaniel, Mitsy. She is the love of my life. She’s also the reason I have no socks and a hole in the carpet.
-
Nature.
My true happy place is hiking in the beautiful New Zealand native bush. I am passionate about looking after the environment, and hope to contribute to products that have this as a core value. There’s no Planet B.
Name Dropping.
Some clients I’ve worked with: client and agency-side.
